The marine chronometer is at the heart of Wempe’s maritime history.

Rooted in Hamburg

Before satellites,
there was precision.

At sea, accurate time was essential for determining longitude. The watchmaker’s precision and the navigator’s skill went hand in hand.

Chronometerwerke was founded in Hamburg in 1905. When Wempe acquired the company in 1938, maritime instrument making became part of its own watchmaking tradition.

That heritage lives on in ship’s clocks, barometers, comfortmeters and chronometers. Instruments with a clear purpose – and a design equally at home in a yacht’s saloon or a maritime interior.
