The publication sets out international requirements for ships carrying dangerous chemicals in bulk and is used by maritime operators and authorities worldwide. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1314\">The purpose of the IBC Code is to reduce the risk to people, vessels and the environment when transporting chemicals at sea.  <strong data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1314\">The regulations set detailed requirements for vessel design, construction, equipment, safety systems and operational procedures for chemical tankers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1609\">The publication includes requirements for tank design, choice of materials, ventilation systems, fire protection, emergency equipment and control systems.
