The regulations include mapping of hazardous materials through the <em data-start=\"1523\" data-end=\"1563\">Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM<\/em>), requirements for certification, inspections and documentation throughout the life of the vessel. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1647\" data-end=\"2007\"><strong data-start=\"1647\" data-end=\"1833\">The Hong Kong Convention is used by shipping companies, shipyards, recycling facilities, classification societies, flag states and maritime authorities working with vessel management and environmental compliance.<\/strong>  The publication is particularly relevant for companies that need to prepare vessels for recycling or ensure compliance with international requirements related to the scrapping of ships.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2360\">The 2025 edition is particularly important as <strong data-start=\"2050\" data-end=\"2118\">the Hong Kong Convention entered into force internationally on June 26, 2025<\/strong>, establishing a global legal framework for safe and environmentally sound ship recycling.
