The Big Book of Climbing<\/strong> is a comprehensive guide for anyone who wants to learn to climb or improve their skills. Written in Swedish<\/strong>, the book provides a systematic introduction to modern climbing techniques, belaying methods, and safe practices on the rock face. <\/p>\n

Whether you’re completely new to the sport or already have experience with sport climbing, trad climbing, or bouldering, this book serves as a practical reference guide with clear explanations, illustrations, and step-by-step descriptions of techniques and procedures.<\/p>\n

For beginners, the book covers all the basics you need to get started safely. Among other things, you\u2019ll learn climbing techniques, how to use belay equipment, knots, placing protection, setting up belay stations and anchors, rappelling, top-roping, and safely belaying the climber. <\/p>\n

More experienced climbers will receive a thorough review of advanced topics such as trad climbing with natural anchors<\/strong>, various methods for balancing belay stations, special knots, rope climbing, transitioning between knots while rappelling, the use of self-locking belay devices such as the GRIGRI<\/strong>, as well as fall theory, fall technique, and dynamic belaying.<\/p>\n

The book follows the Swedish Climbing Association\u2019s<\/strong> standards for introductory courses in rock climbing and sport climbing, and is therefore suitable both as course material and as a comprehensive reference work for further study.<\/p>\n

The Big Book of Climbing<\/strong> was written by Nils “Bobo” Gustavsson<\/strong>, a certified climbing instructor with many years of experience in course instruction and instructor training. He works with the training of climbing instructors through the Swedish Climbing Association and also teaches outdoor safety and leadership at the university level. <\/p>\n
