    Description

Touring Skating in Norway – 167 Beautiful Lakes from Namsos to Tvedestrand is the first comprehensive guidebook to touring skating in Norway. The book describes 167 carefully selected bodies of water spread across large parts of the country and showcases just how diverse and unique Norway is as a destination for touring skating. Here you’ll find everything from large lakes and spectacular fjords to small forest lakes and frozen bodies of water at the foot of high mountains and glaciers.

For each skating lake, you’ll find practical information about access, parking, when the ice usually forms, where there may be thin spots, and the easiest way to get out onto the ice. The book is based on local knowledge from 39 experienced recreational skaters from all over Norway, who have contributed their own experiences and descriptions through an extensive volunteer project.

The editorial team consists of Håvard Tørring, Per Sollerman, and Terje Johnsen—three passionate and highly experienced touring skaters with extensive experience in both Norwegian and Scandinavian touring skating. The goal has been to gather knowledge that was previously scattered among local communities and make it available to anyone who wants to experience the winter landscape on skates—whether you’re a beginner or an experienced long-distance skater.

The book is written in Norwegian and was published by Calazo Forlag in 2023. With its 372 pages, it serves as both a practical guide and an inspiring source of new skating destinations, and is just as useful for planning at home as it is for use throughout the skating season.
