The International Code for Fire Safety Systems (FSS Code) sets forth technical requirements for fire safety equipment and systems on board ships. The Code is used in conjunction with SOLAS Chapter II-2, which addresses fire protection, fire detection, and fire suppression.
The 2026 edition includes relevant fire safety standards and guidelines adopted by the IMO, including the most recent ones that took effect on January 1, 2026. The publication also contains common interpretations approved by the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee since 2004.
