Environment and sustainability
Kart.no works actively to reduce the environmental impact of map production and distribution. Our maps are produced locally in Norway, using water-based inks and high-quality materials from European manufacturers with environmentally certified production. At the same time, we work systematically with environmental issues through certifications and producer responsibility.
Eco-Lighthouse
Kart.no is Eco-Lighthouse certified. Eco-Lighthouse is a recognized Norwegian environmental certification that sets requirements for, among other things, the working environment, energy use, procurement, transport, and waste management.
The certification means that we work systematically to reduce our environmental impact and improve the business over time.
Green Point Norway
Kart.no is a member of Green Point Norway. This means that we take producer responsibility for the packaging we use and contribute to the financing of schemes for the collection and recycling of packaging in Norway.
Production of maps
Local production
Our maps are produced locally in Norway. Shorter transport routes reduce emissions and simultaneously provide us with good control over quality and production.
Water-based ink
We use water-based ink in the production of our maps.
Materials from European manufacturers
Paper and print media are supplied by European manufacturers who work with environmentally certified production and sustainable materials.
Production on demand
Many of our maps are only produced when the customer orders them, for example through the map designer. Production on demand reduces the need for warehousing and helps to avoid overproduction.
Continuous improvement
We work continuously to improve routines and reduce the environmental impact of our business. As an Eco-Lighthouse certified enterprise, we work systematically with measures that contribute to more sustainable operations.
