The instrument case is made of polished and lacquered brass mounted on a mahogany wooden plate, and the front is protected by mineral glass. The barometer is based on a mechanical aneroid mechanism with a measuring range of approx. 940-1060 hPa and an accuracy of ± 3 hPa between 980-1030 hPa at normal temperature conditions. Typical temperature error is ± 3 hPa at rapid temperature changes of ± 10 °C.
