Description
STCW inc. 2010 Manila Amendments, 2017 Edition is the official edition of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) including the 2010 Manila Amendments. Developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the publication sets out international minimum requirements for the training, certification and watchkeeping of seafarers.
The STCW Convention is one of the most important international agreements on maritime safety and competence. The regulations ensure that seafarers around the world meet standardized requirements for education, training and operational competence.
The publication contains detailed requirements for the certification of officers, engineers and other crew, as well as rules for watchkeeping, safety training, medical competence and practical training. It also describes requirements for simulator training, safety exercises and various types of specialized maritime training.
The 2010 Manila Amendments introduced comprehensive updates to the STCW regulations. The changes include new requirements for rest periods, electronic navigation, safety training, anti-piracy activities, modern communication systems and expertise in new maritime technologies.
The publication is used daily by maritime educational institutions, maritime authorities, shipping companies, course providers and seafarers working with certification and maritime skills development. STCW is also a fundamental part of international compliance for ships in international traffic.
The 2017 edition serves as both a legal reference work and a practical tool for companies and individuals working with maritime education, certification and safe operation at sea.
