    Description

“Opptur Oslo ” is a comprehensive guidebook featuring 105 suggested hikes in Oslo and the areas surrounding the capital. The book takes you to the city’s parks and rivers, islands in the Oslo Fjord, scenic viewpoints, wooded areas, and peaks in the Oslomarka, showcasing just how diverse outdoor recreation in and around Oslo really is.

The hikes are spread across Oslo and 13 neighboring municipalities, ranging from short city walks and easy family hikes to longer hikes in the countryside. Here you’ll find, among other things, hikes along rivers and lakes, on the islands in the Oslo Fjord, through areas of cultural and historical significance, and to popular vantage points overlooking the city and the fjord.

The book describes 105 hiking trails, all presented with aerial photos showing the routes marked along with place names and other useful information. The detailed aerial photos make it easy to understand the terrain and plan your hike before you set out. Each hike includes comprehensive descriptions with information on the starting point, difficulty level, and practical tips, as well as fascinating facts about nature, geology, cultural history, and the areas you’ll pass through along the way.

*Opptur Oslo* was written by Knut Sørgaard, a geologist, agronomist, and longtime hiking guide with the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT). With his broad professional background and in-depth local knowledge, he conveys both nature experiences and the history behind the landscape, making the book more than just a traditional hiking guide.

The book was published in 2019 and is an inspiring guide for both Oslo residents and visitors who want to explore the capital and the Oslo Forest on foot.
