Durable 3-season sleeping bag for demanding and changing conditions
Grüezi Bag Wolle Survival is designed for hiking, travel and expeditions where durability, moisture management, ventilation and insect protection are just as important as low weight. It combines temperature- and moisture-regulating wool with synthetic insulation and a highly durable, water-repellent outer fabric.
With a T Comfort of +4 °C and a T Limit of −1 °C, Wolle Survival covers a wide range of conditions from spring to autumn. Grüezi Bag recommends a practical operating range of +6 to +18 °C.
A removable 3D mosquito net over the head, insect-protected foot ventilation and the ability to release excess heat make this model particularly well suited to humid, warm and insect-rich environments.
AlmWolle® and Synthdown for a stable sleeping climate
On the upper side, Wolle Survival combines a layer of lavalan® AlmWolle with a layer of Synthdown insulation. The wool helps regulate temperature and moisture inside the sleeping bag, while the synthetic insulation provides durable and reliable warmth.
This is particularly useful in changing weather conditions and areas with high humidity. Your body releases moisture throughout the night, and the wool helps manage this moisture and create a more stable and comfortable microclimate around the body.
Synthdown insulation is used on the underside. Synthetic insulation handles moisture well and retains much of its insulating performance even when conditions are not completely dry.
Temperature range for three-season use
Wolle Survival is temperature tested according to EN ISO 23537-1, with T Comfort +4 °C, T Limit −1 °C and T Extreme −17 °C. Grüezi Bag also specifies a practical recommended operating range of +6 to +18 °C.
T Limit and T Extreme should not be interpreted as comfort temperatures. For general comparison between sleeping bags, T Comfort +4 °C is the most important standardised reference.
Perceived warmth is also affected by factors such as your sleeping mat, clothing, wind, humidity, food intake, physical condition and individual sensitivity to cold.
Removable 3D mosquito net
One of the most distinctive features of Wolle Survival is its removable 3D mosquito net. The net is suspended over the head using three small curved poles, keeping it away from your face while you sleep.
This provides protection against mosquitoes and other insects without the net resting directly against your skin. When not in use, the mosquito net can be stored in an integrated pocket on the compression stuff sack.
Foot ventilation with insect protection
The special zip construction allows you to slide your feet out of the sleeping bag and rest them on top when temperatures rise. This makes it easier to regulate your temperature during the night without having to open the entire sleeping bag.
An additional insect net is integrated into the foot section, allowing ventilation while keeping mosquitoes and other insects out of the sleeping bag.
This combination of insulation and effective ventilation makes Wolle Survival particularly versatile when temperature and humidity vary significantly throughout the day and night.
Durable and highly water-repellent outer fabric
The outer fabric is made from recycled 40D 290T nylon and is designed to be durable, breathable and highly water-repellent.
Compared with very lightweight sleeping bags, the more robust outer fabric offers greater resistance to wear and makes Wolle Survival particularly suitable for demanding outdoor use, travel and expeditions where the sleeping bag may be exposed to condensation, high humidity, vegetation and more direct contact with the surroundings.
3D thermal collar, Face Baffle and practical details
A 3D thermal collar around the shoulders and neck helps retain warm air inside the sleeping bag as temperatures fall. The adjustable hood features Grüezi Bag’s Face Baffle, which follows the shape of the head and helps reduce heat loss around the face.
The thermal collar drawcords can be stored in a dedicated pocket so that they do not hang loosely around your face during the night. An integrated pillow compartment also allows you to insert a fleece jacket, for example, and use it as a pillow without it sliding away while you sleep.
The sleeping bag also features both an internal and an external pocket for small items and valuables you want to keep within easy reach.
Zip designed for easy and reliable use
The two-way Auto-Lock zip can be operated from either end and from both inside and outside the sleeping bag. The Auto-Lock function helps prevent the zip from opening unintentionally during the night.
An insulated zip baffle reduces heat loss along the opening, while the anti-snag construction and robust protective webbing help prevent the outer fabric from becoming caught in the zip.
The light-coloured zip is also easier to locate and operate in the dark.
Pre-shaped footbox and anti-slip underside
The pre-shaped footbox provides plenty of room for the toes and reduces the risk of the insulation being compressed around the feet. This improves comfort while helping preserve insulation in an area where many people begin to feel cold first.
Anti-slip elements on the underside help keep the sleeping bag in position on the sleeping mat throughout the night.
Two sizes – Regular and XXL
Wolle Survival is available in two sizes. Regular measures approximately 215 × 80 × 50 cm and is designed for people of average build approximately 165–185 cm tall. It weighs around 1.5 kg and has a compressed pack volume of approximately 9.4 litres.
XXL measures approximately 230 × 95 × 67 cm and is designed for people approximately 185–205 cm tall. It weighs around 1.95 kg and has a compressed pack volume of approximately 13.7 litres. The additional width makes XXL particularly suitable for larger users and anyone who prefers more freedom of movement.
Choosing the right size is important for both comfort and warmth. An unnecessarily large sleeping bag contains more air for your body to warm, while a bag that is too short or tight can compress the insulation and reduce its insulating performance.
