Warm and versatile 3-season sleeping bag with DownWool®

Grüezi Bag DownWool Subzero 2.0 is designed for trips where you need more warmth than a lightweight summer sleeping bag can provide, without the weight and bulk of a full winter sleeping bag. Designed for cooler nights from spring through autumn, it is an excellent choice for hiking, trekking, bikepacking, camping and other outdoor adventures where weather and temperatures can vary considerably.

The sleeping bag combines Grüezi Bag’s signature DownWool® 2.0 insulation with a comfortable fit and carefully designed features that help reduce heat loss as temperatures drop.

Down + wool – why DownWool®?

Down is an exceptionally efficient insulating material: lightweight, highly compressible and capable of providing excellent warmth for very little weight. Its weakness is moisture. As humidity increases, conventional down can lose some of its insulating performance, while conditions inside a sleeping bag can change considerably throughout the night.

This is where wool makes the difference.

DownWool® 2.0 combines 70% down with 30% wool. The down provides excellent insulation with low weight and pack volume, while the wool helps regulate both temperature and moisture. The result is a more balanced microclimate inside the sleeping bag and insulation that is less sensitive to high humidity than pure down.

In practical terms, this means a more stable and comfortable sleeping climate throughout the night – particularly in changing or humid conditions.

For cool nights from spring through autumn

DownWool Subzero 2.0 is tested according to EN ISO 23537-1, with a comfort temperature of −2 °C and a limit temperature of −8 °C. Grüezi Bag recommends a practical operating range of −2 to +19 °C.

This makes Subzero a highly versatile three-season sleeping bag: warm enough for cold spring and autumn nights, while the temperature-regulating DownWool® insulation and foot ventilation make it comfortable across a much broader range of conditions.

Individual sensitivity to cold varies, and the limit temperature should not be treated as a normal sleeping temperature. If you tend to feel the cold, allow an additional temperature margin when choosing your sleeping bag.

More than just extra insulation

Subzero 2.0 includes several features that become particularly valuable as temperatures fall. A 3D thermal collar helps reduce heat loss around the neck and zip area, while the adjustable hood with Face Baffle can be drawn closely around the head on colder nights.

The pre-shaped footbox gives your feet room to rest naturally without creating unnecessary internal volume. Grüezi Bag’s foot ventilation system also allows excess heat to escape – or your feet to rest outside the bag – without having to open the entire sleeping bag.

Subzero 2.0 also features a two-way Auto-Lock zip with anti-snag protection, internal and external pockets for small essentials and a practical pillow pocket that can be filled with a fleece jacket or other soft clothing to create a comfortable pillow.

More room for better sleeping comfort

Grüezi Bag places considerable emphasis on ensuring that a sleeping bag does not feel unnecessarily restrictive. More space around the body makes it easier to move and turn inside the sleeping bag, rather than having the whole bag move with you as you change sleeping position.

This is not only about comfort. If a sleeping bag fits too tightly, the body can compress the insulation. As the loft is reduced, its ability to retain warmth can also be reduced.

For this reason, temperature ratings, weight and pack volume should not be considered in isolation when comparing sleeping bags. A small difference in weight can also reflect a roomier cut and more usable space around the body.

Subzero 2.0 is available in three sizes with different overall lengths, shoulder widths and foot widths, allowing you to choose a size that suits both your height and the amount of room you prefer.

Choose the right size

DownWool Subzero 2.0 is available in Regular, Long and Extra Long, allowing you to choose a sleeping bag according to both your height and the amount of room you want around the body.

Regular is recommended for body heights up to 175 cm and has an overall sleeping bag length of 200 cm, a shoulder width of 77 cm and a foot width of 50 cm.

Long is recommended for body heights up to 185 cm and has an overall sleeping bag length of 215 cm, a shoulder width of 80 cm and a foot width of 50 cm.

Extra Long is recommended for body heights up to 200 cm and has an overall sleeping bag length of 230 cm, a shoulder width of 85 cm and a foot width of 60 cm.

If you are close to the upper end of a size range and prefer additional freedom of movement, you may want to consider the next size up. At the same time, the sleeping bag should not be unnecessarily large, as a greater internal volume means more air for your body to warm.

Choosing the right size is therefore a balance between freedom of movement, enough room for the insulation to retain its loft and avoiding unnecessary internal volume.
