It began with
the urge to explore.
After travelling overland from London to Australia, Tony and Maureen Wheeler published Across Asia on the Cheap. Their experiences became Lonely Planet’s first guidebook, published in 1973.
More than fifty years later, that curiosity lives on in guidebooks, maps, illustrated books and books for children. The aim remains the same: to help readers discover more of the world.
