Description
IMDG Code, 2024 Edition (inc. Amendment 42-24) is the official edition of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The publication sets out international rules for the safe transportation of dangerous goods by sea and is used by maritime operators, shipping companies, terminals, ports and logistics providers worldwide.
The IMDG Code is designed to reduce the risk of accidents, fire, explosions and environmental damage when transporting dangerous goods on board ships. The regulations are mandatory under the SOLAS Convention and are a key part of international maritime safety and compliance.
The publication contains detailed requirements for classification, identification, packaging, marking, labeling, documentation, stowage and segregation of dangerous goods. It also describes procedures for handling different types of dangerous substances and provides operational guidance for safe transportation under maritime conditions.
The IMDG Code is used daily by ship officers, safety officers, port operators, freight forwarders and carriers working with dangerous goods. The regulations are also central to the training and certification of personnel involved in the transportation of dangerous goods.
The 2024 edition includes Amendment 42-24, which contains updates and revisions adopted by the IMO to reflect new requirements, technical changes and international harmonization in the transport of dangerous goods.
The publication is an important tool for container transport, tank transport and other maritime logistics involving hazardous substances. For many maritime companies, access to the updated IMDG Code is essential to meet international requirements and ensure safe operations.
