The 2024 edition includes expanded coverage of fire spread, fire growth and ventilation practices, together with updated guidance on command, control and fire team responsibilities.
Sections covering extinguishing media have also been revised to address developments including the replacement of AFFF foam and mitigation strategies for lithium-ion vehicle fires. The manual also includes information on Integrated Alarm Monitoring and Control Systems (IAMCS) and their role in fire detection and response.
The Fire Safety Operational Booklet has been expanded with updates applicable to different vessel types and includes references to the Industrial Personnel (IP) Code and SOLAS Chapter XV. The manual also covers fire safety operations involving areas such as fires in port, dangerous goods, passenger vessels, tankers and offshore support vessels.
Can be customised for individual vessels
I.C. Brindle’s manual allows procedures and information to be adapted to the equipment and requirements of an individual vessel. The main sections describe equipment and procedures in general, while a dedicated final section allows vessel-specific equipment and procedures to be recorded.
The manual is supplied in an A4 loose-leaf ring binder, allowing vessel-specific information to be added and updated when required.
