Weather in the boat

egasus has partnered with UK maritime publisher Wiley/Fernhurst to publish some of their most widely used manuals for various aspects of boating. This year we are publishing the first four in a series of 12, all of which are in the same format, plastic coated and spiral bound, making them particularly suitable for use in all weathers.

The “In the boat” series is also useful as a final refresher before the boatmaster test and exams in maritime subjects. They have been translated and adapted for Norwegian conditions by author and boating journalist Jon Winge.

    Description

Weather on the Boat is a practical and educational introduction to meteorology for boaters. The book explains how weather forms and develops, and how skippers can interpret weather signs, weather charts and warnings to make better decisions at sea. It covers wind, pressure, fronts, clouds, fog, showers, thunder and local weather phenomena that are particularly relevant to coastal and open sea navigation. With clear illustrations and concrete examples, the book provides a solid foundation for safer sailing and better planning. This is the Norwegian edition by Jon Winge of Tim Bartlett’s acclaimed book, and it is suitable for both beginners and experienced boaters who want a better understanding of the weather.
