Description
The IMSBC Code, 2025 Edition (Amendment 08-25 ) is the official edition of the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The publication sets out international rules and procedures for the safe transportation of solid bulk cargoes by sea and is used by maritime operators, ships, terminals and ports worldwide.
The regulations are designed to reduce risks associated with the transportation of bulk cargo, including cargo shifting, spontaneous combustion, chemical reactions and loss of stability on board. The IMSBC Code is mandatory under the SOLAS Convention and is a fundamental part of international maritime safety and compliance in bulk transportation.
The publication contains detailed requirements for the classification, declaration, testing, documentation and handling of various types of solid bulk cargoes. It also describes the necessary safety measures for loading, unloading, stowage and transportation under various maritime conditions.
The IMSBC Code is used daily by ship officers, terminal operators, shipping companies and personnel involved in the transportation of bulk goods. The regulations are particularly important for vessels transporting coal, ore, minerals, grain products, metal concentrates and other solid cargoes that can affect vessel safety if handled incorrectly.
The 2025 edition includes Amendment 08-25, which contains updates and revisions adopted by the IMO to reflect new experiences, technical changes and developments in international bulk transportation.
The publication serves as an important work tool for both operational management and training, and is essential for companies that want to ensure compliance with current international regulations for bulk transport at sea.
