Grüezi Bag Wool Mat Camping Comfort is designed for those who want excellent sleeping comfort, good stability and insulation against the cold ground without an unnecessarily bulky sleeping mat. With a thickness of 8 cm, two separately inflatable air layers and integrated wool insulation, the design prioritises both comfort and reliability.

The mat measures 185 × 64 cm and is suitable for people up to approximately 182 cm tall. Despite its substantial construction, it weighs only around 900 g excluding the stuff sack and packs down to approximately 4.7 litres.

Two separate air layers for comfort and added safety

One of the most distinctive features of Wool Mat Camping Comfort is its two separately inflatable air layers. Each layer has its own valve and can be adjusted independently.

The lower air layer can be inflated more firmly to provide stability and separation from the ground, while the upper layer can be kept softer so that the body sinks more comfortably into the mat. This allows you to fine-tune the sleeping surface according to your own preferences.

The double-layer construction also provides an additional safety reserve. If one layer loses air, the second layer remains usable. This makes the mat less vulnerable than designs that rely entirely on a single air layer.

8 cm thick with a stable V-chamber design

With a thickness of 8 cm, the mat provides a comfortable distance from the ground and enough depth for the body to sink into the softer upper air layer.

The V-shaped air chambers help create a more stable sleeping position. Raised side chambers provide additional lateral support and help reduce the tendency to slide off the mat during the night.

The elastic upper fabric adapts comfortably to the body, allowing the upper air layer to be kept relatively soft without making the sleeping surface feel unstable. The material is also designed to be soft and virtually rustle-free when you move.

Integrated wool insulation

Wool Mat Camping Comfort uses two integrated layers of wool fleece as part of its insulation system. The wool fleece consists of 85% virgin wool and 15% PLA.

The wool fleece adds an insulating material layer alongside the air chambers and contributes to even heat distribution across the sleeping surface. Because the insulation is firmly integrated into the construction, it remains evenly positioned and helps minimise cold spots.

A heat-reflective foil provides an additional layer designed to reduce heat loss to the cold ground.

R-value 3.4

Wool Mat Camping Comfort has an R-value of 3.4. The R-value describes the thermal resistance of an insulating sleeping mat. The higher the value, the more effectively the mat reduces heat loss to the cold ground.

Grüezi Bag recommends Wool Mat Camping Comfort for use down to approximately −5 °C.

Actual comfort will also depend on factors such as your sleeping bag, clothing, the ground surface, humidity and individual sensitivity to cold. For winter use and very low temperatures, the R-value should therefore be considered together with the rest of your sleeping system.

Soft and elastic upper fabric

The upper side is made from elastic 30D polyester, which adapts comfortably to the body when the upper air layer is inflated more softly.

This helps distinguish Wool Mat Camping Comfort from simpler sleeping mats where a taut outer fabric can create a more unstable or floating sensation. The combination of the elastic upper fabric, V-shaped chambers and raised side chambers creates a more supportive and stable sleeping surface.

Connect several mats with Zip-Together

Wool Mat Camping Comfort features Grüezi Bag’s Zip-Together system along the sides. This allows compatible Wool Mat Camping mats to be connected to create a larger, continuous sleeping surface.

This can be particularly useful for couples and families, or whenever you want more sleeping space than a single mat provides.

Twister pump sack and repair kit included

The sleeping mat comes with Grüezi Bag’s Twister pump sack, which allows the mat to be inflated without blowing directly into the valves.

The same sack can also be used for compact storage and transport of the sleeping mat.

A repair kit for minor damage is also included, allowing small punctures or other minor damage to be repaired while travelling or out on a trip.
