Description
Chemical OSV Code, 2018 Edition contains the official IMO code for the carriage and handling of hazardous and noxious liquid substances in bulk on board Offshore Support Vessels (OSV). The publication has been developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to meet the special challenges associated with offshore operations and supply vessels.
Offshore service vessels often transport chemicals, drilling fluids, production chemicals and other specialty products between land-based facilities and offshore installations. Safe handling of these substances is essential to protect crew, vessels, offshore installations and the marine environment.
The publication sets out requirements for construction, equipment, tank arrangements, safety systems and operational procedures for vessels carrying dangerous liquids in bulk. The regulations also describe requirements for classification of substances, documentation, inspections and certification.
The Chemical OSV Code is used by offshore shipping companies, operating companies, shipyards, classification societies, maritime authorities and technical advisors working with offshore service vessels. The publication is particularly relevant for vessels that support the oil, gas and energy sectors through the transportation of chemicals and specialty products.
The 2018 edition contains updated provisions and consolidated requirements adopted by the IMO. The regulations serve as both a legal reference and a practical tool for companies that want to ensure compliance with international requirements for chemical transportation in the offshore sector.
The Chemical OSV Code complements regulations such as the IBC Code, MARPOL and SOLAS, and contributes to a high safety standard in modern offshore operations.
Kart.no delivers IMO publications to customers in Norway and the Nordic region, including Chemical OSV Code, IBC Code, MARPOL, SOLAS and other official maritime publications from the International Maritime Organization.
