Description
Advanced Climbing and Rope Techniques is the natural follow-up to The Big Book of Climbing, and is written for climbers who have already mastered the basic techniques and want to take their skills to the next level. The book is written in Swedish and provides a thorough introduction to advanced climbing, belaying, and rope techniques, both on rock and in alpine environments.
While the basic guide teaches you how to climb safely, this handbook takes you further into more challenging disciplines. You’ll get a systematic overview of advanced techniques used in trad climbing, multi-pitch routes, rescue, aid climbing, and advanced rope and anchor work.
Among the topics covered are mental training and decision-making, fall theory and fall training, crack climbing, multi-pitch climbing, setting and assessing anchors, partner rescue, assistance techniques such as jumaring and hauling, special knots, advanced rope techniques, as well as drilling and installing permanent bolts.
The book was developed as a textbook for advanced climbing education and is recommended as course material by the Swedish Climbing Association. It is used, among other things, in advanced courses, partner rescue courses, rescue climbing courses, and instructor training, and is also a valuable reference work for experienced climbers who wish to further their knowledge.
*Advanced Climbing and Rope Techniques* was written by Nils “Bobo” Gustavsson, a certified climbing instructor with extensive experience in course instruction and instructor training. He trains climbing instructors through the Swedish Climbing Association and also teaches outdoor safety and leadership at the university level. His books are considered among the most comprehensive Swedish reference works on climbing.
The book was published in 2023, is written in Swedish, and is a comprehensive reference guide for anyone who wants to take the next step from basic climbing to more advanced techniques and greater independence in the mountains.
