    Description

2011 Timber Deck Cargoes (TDC) Code, 2012 Edition is the official IMO publication containing the Code of Safe Practice for Ships Carrying Timber Deck Cargoes. The Code has been developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to promote the safe carriage of timber and timber cargoes carried on deck.

The transportation of timber deck cargoes involves special challenges related to vessel stability, cargo securing and the impact of weather and sea conditions. Incorrect stowage or inadequate securing of timber cargo can lead to cargo displacement, stability problems and, in serious cases, loss of vessel and cargo.

The publication provides detailed guidelines for planning, loading, stowing and securing timber cargo on deck. The regulations include requirements for cargo securing equipment, inspections, monitoring during the voyage and assessment of the vessel’s stability before and after loading.

The TDC Code is used by masters, deck officers, shipowners, classification societies and maritime authorities involved in the transportation of timber deck cargoes. The publication is particularly relevant for vessels operating in the forest industry and international transportation of timber and timber products.

The 2012 edition incorporates the updated 2011 Code adopted by the IMO and reflects modern safety principles for the transportation of deck cargo in international trade. The Code serves both as a practical working tool and as important reference literature in maritime safety and cargo operations.

For companies that transport timber cargo by sea, the TDC Code is a key tool for ensuring compliance with international recommendations and best practices in cargo securing and vessel safety.
