Description
Nautical Almanac 2025 – Commercial Edition (US) is the official annual nautical almanac for professional and advanced navigation at sea. The publication contains precise astronomical data for the sun, moon, planets and selected stars, and is used as a basis for celestial navigation and accurate positioning.
The almanac is published by the Nautical Almanac Office and was developed in collaboration between the American and British nautical authorities. The commercial edition is intended for commercial ships, navigators and others with high demands on accuracy and reliability, and differs from leisure editions in its level of detail and formal layout.
The Nautical Almanac is used in combination with sight reduction tables, sextants and chronometers, and is a key reference work in classical celestial navigation. Even in the age of electronic navigation systems, the almanac remains an important part of emergency preparedness and redundancy on board ocean-going vessels.
The publication is only valid for the specified year and must be replaced annually to ensure correct calculations. It is therefore a time-critical navigation tool and not a general book in the traditional sense.
