DownWool® insulation for hammock trips

Grüezi Bag DownWool-Hybrid Underquilt is designed to provide insulation beneath your hammock without the insulation being compressed by your body weight. The underquilt hangs beneath the hammock, creating an insulating layer between your body and the cold air below.

With DownWool® made from down and wool, a low weight and a flexible attachment system, it is designed for hammock trips where sleeping comfort, packed volume and weight all matter.

DownWool® combines down and wool

The underquilt contains 225 g of DownWool®, consisting of 70% duck down and 30% mechanically processed wool. The down has a 90/10 ratio and a fill power of at least 700 cuin.

This combination brings together down’s excellent insulation-to-weight ratio with wool’s natural ability to manage moisture and help maintain a balanced microclimate.

Oval chambers help reduce cold spots

The DownWool® filling is distributed through oval insulation chambers. This construction helps keep the filling evenly distributed and reduces the risk of cold spots.

Synthdown insulation is used at the ends, where condensation is more likely to occur. The synthetic insulation is less sensitive to moisture and provides additional insulation in these areas.

Flexible attachment system

The underquilt has three attachment loops on each side. The six included elastic cords are adjustable in length and attach using hooks.

This allows the position of the underquilt to be adapted to different hammocks and sleeping positions. It can be positioned both lengthwise and diagonally, making it suitable for hammock users who prefer to sleep diagonally.

For use from late spring to early autumn

Grüezi Bag recommends the DownWool-Hybrid Underquilt for use from late spring to early autumn.

The temperature at which an underquilt feels comfortable will depend on factors such as wind, humidity, the hammock, sleeping bag, clothing and individual sensitivity to cold. The underquilt should therefore be considered as part of the complete sleep system.

Lightweight and compact

Despite its dimensions of approximately 250 × 115 × 45 cm, the underquilt weighs only around 650 g excluding the stuff sack.

When compressed, it measures approximately Ø 14 × 23 cm and has a packed volume of just 3.5 litres. This makes it well suited to trips where both weight and space in your backpack matter.

Can also be used as a blanket

DownWool-Hybrid Underquilt is not limited to use beneath a hammock. It can also be opened out and used as a lightweight insulating blanket when camping, in a car or van, or on warmer nights when a sleeping bag would be unnecessarily warm.

Lightweight recycled materials

The outer and inner fabrics are made from recycled 20D 380T nylon. The material combines low weight and durability with breathable, wind-resistant and water-resistant properties.

Complete attachment system included

The underquilt comes with six adjustable elastic cords with hooks, a compression stuff sack and a storage bag.
