Grüezi Bag DownWool Summer Light 2.0 is designed for anyone looking for a lightweight and compact sleeping bag for summer, while still wanting more temperature margin than the lightest ultralight summer bags can provide. With a comfort temperature of +7 °C, it is well suited to summer use in mild to cool conditions.
It is an excellent choice for hiking, trekking, bikepacking, camping, hut-to-hut trips and travel, as well as mountain trips when temperatures are suitable. A good option when low weight and compact pack size matter, but you still want more warmth and sleeping comfort than a dedicated ultralight summer sleeping bag provides.
Down + wool – why DownWool®?
DownWool® 2.0 combines 70% down with 30% wool. The down provides excellent insulation with low weight and pack volume, while the wool helps regulate both temperature and moisture inside the sleeping bag.
This is particularly useful in changing conditions. As humidity increases, conventional down can lose some of its insulating performance, while the wool in DownWool® helps create a more balanced microclimate and makes the insulation less sensitive to high humidity.
In practical terms, this means a more stable and comfortable sleeping climate throughout the night, particularly as temperature and humidity change.
For mild to cool summer nights
Summer Light 2.0 is tested according to EN ISO 23537-1 with a comfort temperature of +7 °C and a limit temperature of +2 °C. Grüezi Bag recommends an operating range of +9 to +24 °C.
This gives Summer Light 2.0 noticeably more temperature margin than an ultralight summer sleeping bag, while retaining low weight and a compact pack size. Its temperature-regulating DownWool® insulation and practical foot ventilation also make it comfortable across a broad range of summer conditions.
Temperatures can fall quickly at altitude even in summer, so conditions and the weather forecast should always be taken into account when choosing a sleeping bag for mountain use. Individual sensitivity to cold also varies. If you tend to feel the cold, allow an additional temperature margin when choosing your sleeping bag.
Comfort without unnecessary weight
Summer Light 2.0 includes several of the comfort features found on Grüezi Bag’s warmer models, including an adjustable hood, lightweight thermal collar, pre-shaped footbox and pillow pocket.
The two-way auto-lock zip can be opened from either end and features anti-snag protection to reduce the risk of catching the outer fabric. Grüezi Bag’s foot ventilation system also allows excess heat to escape – or your feet to rest outside the bag – without having to open the entire sleeping bag.
Internal and external pockets provide convenient storage for small essentials you want to keep close at hand during the night.
Comfortable fit
Summer Light 2.0 has a comfortable mummy shape with more freedom of movement than very close-fitting ultralight sleeping bags. This allows for a more natural sleeping position and makes it particularly comfortable for side sleepers and anyone who tends to move around during the night.
At the same time, the mummy shape retains the thermal efficiency needed to combine relatively low weight with good insulation.
Choose the right length
DownWool Summer Light 2.0 is available in Regular, Long and Extra Long, allowing you to choose a sleeping bag that matches your height rather than relying on a single universal length.
Regular is designed for body heights up to 175 cm, Long up to 185 cm and Extra Long up to 200 cm. If you are close to the upper end of a size range and prefer additional room, you may also want to consider the next size up.
Choosing the right size improves both comfort and thermal efficiency. An unnecessarily large sleeping bag contains more air for your body to warm, while a bag that is too short can compress the insulation and reduce both warmth and sleeping comfort.
Recycled materials and natural insulation
The outer and inner fabrics are made from 100% recycled 20D 380T nylon. The material is lightweight and breathable while also being wind- and water-resistant.
DownWool® 2.0 insulation consists of 70% down and 30% wool. The 90/10 down has a fill power of 700+ cuin, providing high insulation performance with low weight and excellent compressibility.
Summer Light 2.0 is made in Germany and supplied with a compression stuff sack and storage bag.
